Meet the Presenters

Gina Martin Adams

Chief U.S. Equity Strategist

Gina Martin Adams, CFA, CMT, is the Chief U.S. Equity Strategist for Bloomberg Intelligence, a unique research platform that provides context on markets, industries, companies, and government policy, available on the Bloomberg Professional Service at BI <GO>. 

Gina provides top-down perspective on the equity market, sectors and industries with a multi-disciplined approach that utilizes fundamental, quantitative and technical analysis. She frequently presents her views at industry conferences, professional associations and investment organizations, and has been recognized for portfolio strategy, technical strategy and economics in Institutional Investors’ All-America Research survey.

Prior to joining Bloomberg, she was the head of U.S. Equity Strategy for Wells Fargo Securities, where she provided analysis and investment allocation recommendations for Wells Fargo Securities’ institutional clients. Previously, she was an economist for Wachovia Bank, and an investment strategy analyst for Evergreen Asset Management.

Mrs. Adams has a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration with concentrations in Finance and Marketing from the University of Florida. She holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Market Technician designations, and is a member of the CFA Institute, the New York Society of Security Analysts, the Market Technicians Association, the American Association of Professional Technical Analysts, the Financial Women’s Association, and 100 Women in Hedge Funds. 

Mark Newton, CMT

Chief Technical Analyst

As Greywolf’s former Chief Technical Analyst, Mark has more than 20 years of buy and sell-side experience in the financial services industry. He formerly worked with Diamondback Capital Management, where he served as a technical analyst and portfolio manager, and prior to that, with Morgan Stanley in New York City as their technical strategist.

Before moving to the New York City area in 2004, Mark traded equity options as a market maker/floor trader at the CBOE, and worked in risk management. Mark is a member of the Market Technicians Association, and former member of the CBOE, CBOT, and PHLX. He graduated with a BS in Finance from Virginia Tech in 1991 and obtained his Chartered Market Technician designation in 2002.

His expertise is primarily in using advanced methods of technical analysis to identify stocks, commodities, and currencies with above-average risk/reward characteristics that can maximize returns and minimize risk. In addition to employing standard technical tools to identify trend duration, relative strength, and momentum, Mr. Newton utilizes counter-trend analysis to identify potential trend exhaustion and reversals of trend. He appears frequently on CNBC’s The Closing Bell, BNN, FOX Business News, along with Yahoo Finance.

Ari Wald, CFA, CMT
Managing Director & Head of Technical Analysis

Ari Wald, CFA, CMT, is a Managing Director and head of Technical Analysis at Oppenheimer.  Ari joined the firm from Wolfe Research and previously was a member of the Portfolio Strategy team at Brown Brothers Harriman.

Ari won Technical Analyst of the Year in the 2016 Technical Analyst Awards, was a winner in 2014 and 2016, and was a finalist in 2013, 2015, and 2017.  He is a regular CNBC contributor and is often quoted in Bloomberg and the WSJ.

Simon White
Variant Perception Research
Co-Founder & Managing Editor

Simon White is Co-Founder and Managing Editor at Variant Perception Research, a macroeconomic research group that provides investment strategy to asset managers across the globe.

Simon is a Cambridge mathematics graduate with a background in interest rate trading and risk management. Prior to Variant Perception, Simon worked for JP Morgan on the US Rates desk, followed by a position at Bank of America as a proprietary trader.

Abigail Doolittle, Moderator

On-Air Markets Reporter

Abigail Doolittle is an On-Air Markets Reporter for Bloomberg Television. She reports on the various financial markets throughout each business day. Her reports often place special focus on charts and technical analysis.

Prior to joining Bloomberg Television in October 2015, Abigail was a CNBC Contributor and analyzed the financial markets regularly as a guest commentator. This was simultaneous to working as a Technical Strategist at Seaport Global Securities, an investment bank, and an analyst at Peak Theories Research at various points over the course of three years. Abigail founded Peak Theories Research, an on-line technical analysis firm, in 2009.

Abigail’s interest in charting began when she worked at First Albany between 2000 and 2005 as an Institutional Equity Salesperson and deepened during her four years at Hugh Johnson Advisors as a Director of Business Development. She started her Wall Street career in 1995 with Morgan Stanley’s investment banking division and overall gained 15 years of experience in the industry before becoming a broadcast journalist.

Beyond loving her work with Bloomberg Television, Abigail is deeply grateful for the opportunity to volunteer with many New York City non-profit organizations. Some of the groups she has volunteered with include Citymeals on Wheels, God’s Love We Deliver, Good+ Foundation, New York Common Pantry among others.

Abigail graduated from Colgate University with a degree in philosophy.
